Did NBA suspend Isaiah Stewart for 25 games? Viral tweet debunked after Pistons star’s wild on-court fight

Isaiah Stewart is facing a hefty fine and a potential multi-game suspension for his role in the Detroit Pistons-Charlotte Hornets brawl on Monday. There’s a circulating report that Stewart could be suspended for as many as 25 games due to his conduct and history.

According to Mr. Risky on X, formerly known as Twitter, Stewart has been suspended for 25 games because he was a “threat to players and society.” The account then listed some of the incidents involving “Beef Stew” since he entered the NBA in 2020.

Some of the names mentioned include LeBron James, Patrick Beverley, Drew Eubanks, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thomas Bryant. He was suspended two games for the James incident, three games for punching Eubanks and two games for a brawl against the Minnesota Timberwolves in March 2025.

The NBA’s official public relations account on X hasn’t released a statement regarding the punishment for Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Duren, Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate. So the report is still speculation at this point, though it would be surprising if Stewart receives that kind of punishment.

Stewart does have a history, but the most number of games he has been suspended is three, for punching Eubanks outside the arena in February 2024. He didn’t stay on the bench and stepped on the court during a brawl, so that’s an automatic one-game suspension.

Due to his history, it’ll likely be more than three since the NBA would want him to learn his lesson moving forward.

DeMarcus Cousins predicts Isaiah Stewart’s punishment

The brawl between the Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons made headlines. It was a serious one, considering punches were thrown, and Isaiah Stewart made it worse because he came off the bench.

That action could have triggered a bigger brawl, but luckily, things calmed down thanks to officials, coaches and security.

Speaking on “Run It Back” on FanDuelTV, Lou Williams thought that Stewart would get a 10-game suspension. DeMarcus Cousins didn’t agree with him and predicted a harsher punishment.

“It’s gonna be more than that,” Cousins said. “This isn’t a first-time offender, and he left the bench. I’m thinking 20 to 25 (games), to be honest.”

It will be interesting to see how many games the NBA suspends Stewart for. Jalen Duren could expect a suspension as well since he was involved in the initial incident with Moussa Diabate that triggered the brawl. Miles Bridges threw a punch at Duren and Stewart, so he’ll likely get a harsher punishment.
