Danny Kingad knows exactly where he wants Friday’s fight to go.
The Filipino veteran faces Chinese striker Hu Yong in a flyweight MMA clash at ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger II on Prime Video on Friday, Feb. 13, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
‘Wolf Warrior’ has made his intentions clear—he wants to become the first fighter to knock out Kingad in his professional career.
During an interview with ONE Championship, however, ‘The King’ addressed his opponent’s finishing ability while revealing his own tactical approach.

“He is a proven finisher. He has taken out a lot of big names over the years. Then again, that’s the beauty of MMA. We’re not limited to one discipline. I know how good he is with his stand-up, so why not test his ground game?” Danny Kingad shared.
That game plan shows a smart strategy against a dangerous striker.
Kingad’s acknowledgment that his dance partner is a proven finisher shows respect and perhaps suggests that standing with Hu plays directly into the latter’s strengths.
As such, rather than proving toughness by standing and trading, Kingad looks ready to exploit Hu’s weakest area and claim a pivotal win come ONE Fight Night 40 inside the Mecca of Muay Thai in three days.
Danny Kingad pumped for return to action, says he misses “getting punched in the face”
In the same pre-fight exchange with the world’s largest martial arts organization, the Lions Nation MMA affiliate couldn’t contain his excitement for his hotly anticipated return at ONE Fight Night 40.
The striking specialist even surprisingly admitted that he misses getting hit in the face.
“Believe it or not, I really miss getting punched in the face. I miss the adrenaline, getting a black eye in a wild fight. I just want that euphoric feeling again. It’s those little things,” Danny Kingad shared ahead of fight night.
Danny Kingad and Hu’s flyweight MMA tilt is one of many intriguing fights lined up for ONE Fight Night 40, which will be available to active North American Amazon Prime Video subscribers for free on Friday, Feb. 13.
In the main event, ONE world champions, Jackie Buntan and Stella Hemetsberger, run it back. This time, the Filipino-American will put her strawweight kickboxing gold on the line against the strawweight Muay Thai queen.
Before they trade leather, Shadow Singha Mawynn and Nico Carrillo look to light up the ring with another highlight-reel moment in their ONE interim featherweight Muay Thai world title battle.
