Jon Jones isn’t sure of Justin Gaethje’s chances of beating the UFC lightweight champion should they meet up at the White House event.
The former two-division champion was speaking to Helen Yee after the Celebrity Sweat flag football game and was asked who his favorite fighter was.
Jones named the legendary Anderson Silva as the one he loved, with Ilia Topuria being his current favorite fighter:
“My favorite fighter to watch has always been Anderson Silva, he is unbelievable. Right now, I have to say Ilia [Topuria], he gets me excited. He’s just dynamite.”

Topuria has been incredible in the UFC. He is undefeated and has scored knockouts over big names Charles Oliveira, Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski.
Yee told Jones that there are rumors of Topuria facing Gaethje at the UFC White House event, and ‘Bones’ wasn’t too certain of Gaethje’s chances in that fight:
“How crazy would that be? Sorry Gaethje.”

Gaethje won the interim lightweight title by beating Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324. He is expected to face Topuria next, but there is no confirmation of when this fight will happen.
Justin Gaethje calls out Ilia Topuria for White House scrap
The UFC White House event is expected to be the biggest in the history of the promotion and Justin Gaethje wants to fight on the card.
‘The Highlight’ also knows who his next opponent is, Ilia Topuria. The UFC lightweight champion had been inactive for a while due to personal issues, but recently confirmed he is back in training.
Speaking to Pat McAfee recently, Gaethje explained that fighting Topuria at the White House was the only option right now:
“Ilia Topuria at the White House. Has to be. Has to be, no other option. Walking out of the Oval Office, into the cage, wearing the flag. I think we are going to main event it. I think we will be the main event.”
However, he was also open to facing Conor McGregor:
“If it’s McGregor, then McGregor’s going to fight me, and we will be main event anyway.”
Gaethje also warned Topuria of dire consequences if he didn’t return:
“If Ilia didn’t come back, they would strip him, and I would become undisputed and then McGregor gets to fight whoever he wants.”
