Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker James Pearce Jr. was reportedly arrested on Saturday in Florida. Pearce crashed his vehicle during a police pursuit following a domestic dispute that allegedly involved LA Sparks star Rickea Jackson. So, is Jackson dating Pearce?
There have been rumors since last year that Pearce and Jackson were dating. The WNBA star seemingly confirmed it during the NFL draft. She was with Pearce and his family when the Falcons selected him at No. 26.
Both went to the University of Tennessee, so they have known each other for a while. However, Jackson shared on her Snapchat last October that she’s no longer in a relationship, so we can assume that she’s not dating Pearce anymore.
According to The Spun, James Pearce Jr. was arrested on domestic violence charges, which include aggravated battery and stalking. Rickea Jackson is reportedly the woman involved in the dispute.
Falcons release statement regarding James Pearce Jr.’s arrest
James Pearce Jr.’s arrest has started making headlines, so it was not surprising that the Atlanta Falcons have released a statement regarding the matter. The Falcons relayed their initial reaction to the arrest via the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
“We are aware of an incident involving James Pearce Jr., in Miami. We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time,” the team said in the statement.
TMZ Sports reported that police were called to respond to a dispute, allegedly involving Pearce and Rickea Jackson in Miami. Upon the arrival of the officers, Pearce reportedly entered his car and fled the scene, which started a chase.
Pearce would then crash his car, with the police taking him into custody. There has been an alleged video of his arrest circulating on social media, though the Doral Police Department has not confirmed if it was real.
Rickea Jackson currently playing in Unrivaled
In her second offseason, Rickea Jackson remained in Unrivaled and was drafted by Breeze BC. Jackson is based in Florida during the offseason because of the 3-on-3 league.
Jackson played in Friday’s game against Hive BC, finishing with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. However, they fell short and dropped to 5-5 following their 70-68 loss.
Jackson hasn’t released a statement regarding her potential involvement with James Pearce Jr. She’s set to play in Unrivaled’s 1-on-1 tournament on Wednesday, facing Kahleah Copper in the first round.
