Is Jaxson Hayes Getting Sued by Wizards Mascot? Lakers Big Man’s Lawsuit Over Viral Shove Explored Amid Latest Report

Jaxson Hayes could need to lawyer up soon, as the person behind the Wizards mascot suit, whom he pushed a few weeks ago, is ready to sue him. The incident happened in the Lakers‘ 142-111 win over the Washington Wizards on Jan. 30.

The Lakers’ big man shoved the mascot, G-Wiz, during the pregame introductions, and the moment was caught on broadcast. The action was not considered much until the NBA took the matter into its own hands and slapped Hayes with a one-match suspension.

On Tuesday, TMZ Sports reported that the person behind the mascot suit is considering taking legal action against the Lakers’ big man.

“TMZ Sports has learned that the person behind the mask has lawyered up — and has selected the attorney that represented Sofia Jamora in her domestic violence lawsuit against Hayes,” TMZ Sports wrote.

Nearly two weeks after Lakers forward Jaxson Hayes shoved the Washington Wizards’ mascot G-Wiz during pregame introductions TMZ Sports reports the person behind the mask has lawyered up. “We will give them the opportunity to resolve the matter before taking legal action, but

TMZ revealed that the person in the mascot suit had suffered an injury due to Hayes’ shove. The severity of the injury was not disclosed. The Mascot’s lawyer, Waukeen McCoy, told the press that his client will give the Lakers big man a chance to settle the matter without taking any legal action.

Jaxson Hayes says he apologized to the person in the Mascot suit

After serving his one-game suspension, Jaxson Hayes attended a press conference on Saturday. One of the reporters asked the Lakers big man about the incident and he revealed that he had apologized to the man in the G-Wiz costume that night.

“I obviously apologized to the team and to the mascot,” he said. “We all try to get ourselves into the mental space and physical space before we play a game. When I am stretching, and somebody steps on my foot, I might have lost it. I should have handled it in a different way. We live and we learn.”

Hayes has not responded to rumors about the Mascot considering taking legal action against him. G-Wiz will be heading to the All-Star weekend, but the person behind the suit this time will most likely be different.

The Lakers’ big man is rarely involved in such controversies. He is in his seventh year in the league and is playing a solid bench role for LA. Jaxson Hayes is the number one replacement for starting center Deandre Ayton.

He is averaging 6.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game on 77.1% shooting.
