Deshaun Watson’s coach shares honest feelings about Dan Orlovsky’s potential removal from NFL broadcasting

Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky’s stint as an analyst for ESPN might be coming to an end. According to an article by The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, the network might be changing up its No.2 game-calling team after the recent NFL deal.

“ESPN is expected to change it’s No. 2 NFL game-calling team of Chris Fowler, Dan Orlovsky and Louis Riddick Jr. due to its new NFL deal, according to sources briefed on ESPN’s plans,” Marchand wrote.

“As a part of a potential new booth, Jason Kelce has emerged as a dark horse candidate on the analyst side, according to sources briefed on discussions, while NFL Network’s Kurt Warner is also in the mix. … Dave Pasch and Mike Monaco are contenders to be a part of the new booth as play-by-play announcers. ESPN executives are still sorting out their plans, and other candidates, like Bob Wischusen, could emerge.”

Deshaun Watson’s quarterback coach, Quincy Avery, shared his thoughts on this potential shakeup. He believes that both Dan Orlovsky and Louis Riddick Jr. are “good analysts” but were not compatible together.

“I think Dan & Louis are both good color guys but I do not like them in the booth together. Think they both do really well in 2 man booths,” Avery tweeted.

Over the weekend, ESPN acquired multiple NFL media assets after government regulators approved the billion-dollar blockbuster deal. As part of this deal, the network will now own NFL Network and also have the right to “NFL RedZone.”

Orlovsky spent 12 seasons playing in the NFL. After hanging up his cleats in 2017, he joined ESPN as an analyst a year later. In 2022, he joined the network’s #2 NFL crew, replacing Brian Griese, who left to become the 49ers’ quarterbacks coach.
