Zack Peter has opened up about Blake Lively’s appearance in court for her case against Justin Baldoni on Wednesday. He highlighted how the actress came without her husband, Ryan Reynolds, while Baldoni was with his wife, Emily.
Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual assault on the set of It Ends With Us. She also alleged retaliation and an unsafe work environment against the actor-director and his production company. Justin Baldoni, meanwhile, has denied all allegations.
On Wednesday, the two parties appeared at the Manhattan federal courtroom, but failed to settle. Podcaster Zack Peter shared his thoughts on it, especially pointing to the absence of Ryan Reynolds. He said in a video:
“Blake Lively did not [come with Reynolds], which is really strange, considering she claims to be the victim of harassment at the hands of these men. You would think that’s exactly when your husband is by your side in the courtroom, sitting right next to you, holding your hand. You have to face your accusers, right?”
Zack Peter labeled it “strange” that the Deadpool star wasn’t by his wife’s side. He added that the couple hasn’t been seen together a lot in recent months, except for some rare appearances. He added:
“But at this point, I don’t know, things aren’t looking too good for Blake and Ryan. Could there be some potential woes in their marriage? I just don’t understand how your wife is facing these terrible men that took advantage of her and harassed her and it was persistent and yet, You’re not there with her? Supporting her, at least showing the public that you guys are aligned. You’re all in this together.”
Peter also speculated that it could mean a “potential breakup or a divorce” could be on the cards for Lively and Reynolds.
More about Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni as potential trial approaches

The two sides could still potentially reach a settlement, but after Wednesday, it appears unlikely. Justin Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, confirmed after the court appearance that the case appears to be heading for a trial. When asked if a trial is likely, he told the reporters:
“I do. We’re looking forward to it.”
Following Blake Lively’s lawsuit in December 2024, Baldoni also filed a defamation lawsuit against her, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist. He also filed a similar lawsuit against the New York Times for an article regarding the entire scenario. However, both lawsuits were dismissed in June last year.
There have been numerous hearings since then, which have also seen some big names like Taylor Swift getting involved in the case. Baldoni’s lawyers alleged that Blake Lively and Swift spoke negatively about the actor-director via messages.
They also claimed that Lively allegedly sought support from Swift and the likes of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to support her version of It Ends With Us. The messages also revealed Lively and Swift speaking about the New York Times article even before it was published in December 2024. Meanwhile, the trial for the case will begin on May 18 if the case isn’t dismissed.
