It will not be long before WNBA fans see Caitlin Clark in action once again. With a new collective bargaining agreement set, the 2026 season is expected to begin as originally scheduled.
Concerns grew in the past months as the WNBA and the players’ association had extended discussions on a new CBA. The 2026 season is set to tip off on May 8. The Indiana Fever’s season opener will be against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on May 9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The team’s social media accounts posted hype videos for the upcoming season featuring Clark and Aliyah Boston’s training session.
The Fever are also scheduled to play two preseason games next month. They will visit the New York Liberty on April 27 and host Dallas on April 30. Barring any announcement, Caitlin Clark is expected to play in these games.
Similar to the previous season, each WNBA team will play 44 games. The Commissioner’s Cup will run from June 1 to 17 and All-Star Weekend is scheduled for July.
Caitlin Clark will enter her third WNBA season. Her 2025 season was cut short by several injuries, most notably a groin issue. In 13 games last season, the two-time All-Star averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds.
Caitlin Clark had an outstanding stint with Team USA
After not playing professional basketball in nearly eight months, Caitlin Clark returned to the basketball court early this month to play for Team USA. The Indiana Fever star made her senior national team debut and led the Americans to a 5-0 record at the 2026 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Clark averaged 11.8 ppg and 6.4 apg on 52.9% shooting and was named the tournament MVP.
Clark said before the tournament began on March 10 that she is “in the best possible shape” with regard to her injury recovery. She played five games in seven days with Team USA.
Clark is expected to once again represent the USA at the 2026 FIBA Basketball World Cup scheduled on Sept. 4-13 in Berlin, Germany. The 2026 WNBA regular season will go on a break from Aug. 30 until Sept. 16 to allow players to represent their countries.
