ONE Fight Night 40: “I’m going to hurt him”

Japanese kickboxer Hyu doesn’t see his unbeaten record going away anytime soon.

The Team Mehdi Zatout and TEAM3K standout will look to continue climbing the flyweight kickboxing ladder when he throws down with Thai veteran Suablack Tor Pran49 at ONE Fight Night 41 on March 13 at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Hyu has taken the 135-pound kickboxing ranks by storm, racing to a pristine 12-0 professional record.

He won his fourth straight bout in the home of martial arts when he scored an epic come-from-behind TKO victory over previously undefeated Jordan Estupinan at ONE Fight Night 35 last September.

After cashing in a $50,000 performance bonus for that emphatic finish, Hyu rides into his next battle with all the confidence in the world.

Needless to say, the 23-year-old karateka expects another impressive victory when he shares the ring with Suablack. He told ONE Championship in his pre-event interview:

“I think it’ll be a really exciting fight. Like a karate athlete, I’m going to hurt him and break him down.”

Suablack presents a formidable test for Hyu, given his experience edge. The Thai veteran has 62 career victories, which include recent triumphs over tough adversaries Seksan Or Kwanmuang and Sangarthit Looksaikongdin.

Hyu expects tough war against Suablack

While Hyu is confident of victory against Suablack, he knows it won’t be handed to him on a silver platter.

The battle-tested Thai is as experienced as they come, and is also coming down from a higher weight class.

The 23-year-old understands that anything less than his A-Game won’t be enough against a formidable Thai veteran.

“I feel like he is a proven, high-level guy, who’s been doing well in ONE. Just look at his thighs—he’s clearly built differently, not someone who goes down easily,” the Japanese striker told ONE Championship in the same interview.
