Second seed Ekaterina Alexandrova will face qualifier Sara Bejlek in the final of the Abu Dhabi Open 2026.
Following a first-round bye, Alexandrova comfortably beat Dayana Yastremska and Alexandra Eala in straight sets to reach the semifinals. She was up against Hailey Baptiste for a spot in the final. Alexandrova got outplayed in the opening set by her younger rival to lose it, conceding her first set of the week.
Alexandrova was up a break in the second set, only to squander her lead. She found herself in further trouble down the line but saved a match point on her own serve in the 10th game. She ultimately captured the set with a strong showing in the tie-break. She raised her level in the decider, needing only one break of serve to seal a 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 comeback win.
Bejlek came through the qualifiers, and then dispatched Ashlyn Krueger, Jelena Ostapenko, and Sonay Kartal, all in straight sets, to reach the last four. She was up against third seed Clara Tauson in the semifinals. The qualifier overturned a 2-4 deficit in the first set, sweeping five of the next six games to take the set.
Tauson raced to a 4-1 lead in the second set, and maintained the distance between Bejlek and herself to claim the set. Bejlek led by a break twice in the third set, only for Tauson to claw her way back into the match on each occasion. However, the Czech youngster made one final push, bagging the last three games of the match for a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 win.

Alexandrova arrived in Abu Dhabi on a three-match losing skid. She has now not only reached the final in singles but also in doubles. Her match point save against Baptiste was a pleasant change, considering she’s the only who’s usually blowing such opportunities.
Bejlek has advanced to her maiden final on the WTA Tour, and has done so in style. Coming all the way through the qualifying rounds, she beat last year’s runner-up Krueger, former French Open champion Ostapenko, and third seed Tauson, who also became her first top 20 scalp.
Alexandrova has lost five of her last six finals, so she’s carrying some serious baggage. However, the conditions here are conducive to her aggressive baseline game, and there’s a good chance that she’s able to outhit Bejlek for the trophy.
