Is Luke Kennard playing tonight against Golden State Warriors? Lakers newest sharpshooter’s status explored (Feb. 7)

The LA Lakers acquired sharpshooter Luke Kennard to address their below-average 3-point shooting. The Purple and Gold parted ways with inconsistent Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick to surround Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves with more shooting on the perimeter.

There is a chance that Kennard makes his Lakers debut on Saturday when the team hosts the Golden State Warriors in a big-ticket clash. The former Memphis Grizzlies guard is listed as questionable on the injury report as his deal hasn’t been officially announced by the franchise.

Kennard shot lights out from beyond the arc in 46 games for the Atlanta Hawks this season. He averaged 3.2 3-point attempts per game and made shots at a superb 49.7% clip. The veteran guard is also an underrated playmaker and possesses the ability to handle the basketball in tough situations. He averaged 7.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Hawks.

Luka Doncic ruled out from Warriors game

The Lakers will be without their offensive engine, Luka Doncic, who suffered a left hamstring strain in the previous game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He played just 16 minutes on the evening, before exiting the game in excruciating pain. Doncic’s injury isn’t considered to be serious, and there is optimism that the Lakers might have the Slovenian superstar back in rotation in the next game.

Meanwhile, the Lakers will also be without rookie Adou Thiero, who is recovering from a right MCL sprain. There is still no time for when he will return to action.
