Reach the temple

To start Fated Quest, you must head to Royotan Temple. This is in northern Iinoya, just past the Omomiji Junction fast travel station. Talk to the NPC named Ii Naotora standing in front of the temple gates to learn about the situation, then head inside.

Be sure to unlock the Roytan Temple Main Gate shrine located just a few steps beyond the gate and then proceed forward. Follow the linear path until you reacha patrolling yokai in the courtyard. Deal with it and turn left to proceed inside the building here.

Stick to the corridor on the left where Ii Naotora will comment on the creaky floorboards, giving away their presence to any lurking monsters. Turn right to enter another hallway, and press on through, dealing with any threats until you reach the inner courtyard, where a Ninja Yoki enemy can be found.

Also, take note of the Bell in the courtyard, which can be rung to temporarily weaken any nearby. This is useful for those struggling with the Ninja Yoki. Next, head inside the building past the Bell and turn left. Head through the corridor, being mindful of the yokai spawns, including those who are lurking in adjacent rooms.

In the first tatami room to the left, where a yokai spawns from, a Kodama can be spotted hiding behind a stack of books. These are a type of collectible in Nioh 3, and gathering them allows you to enjoy various Blessings such as increased damage dealt and health gained.

Take a left at the end of the corridor to find another shrine. Interact with it to activate the checkpoint to respawn here after death. Head inwards to reach what looks like some sort of dining space, with more powerful Ninja Yoki monsters lurking about.

Head outside into a large courtyard, deal with any stragglers, and keep moving forward until you reach a small wooden Bell tower. Deal with the couple of yokai on the ground. Then climb the stairs to find a Bell to ring as well as a couple more monsters, including one spamming projectiles from the nearby ledge.

Head across the rooftops

Before heading into the building next to the tower, take note of the swirling Yokai Pool mist on the ground. Another monster will jump out from it; defeat it, and head inside the building to climb the ladder. Upon reaching the upper floor, Naotora will comment that this temple belongs to the Ii clan.

The path forward is now across the rooftops of the temple shrines. Head through the left side to reach a ladder and climb down. Even more yokai are present here, but with Ii Naotora at your side to help battle foes, things should be relatively uneventful. Head forward, then turn left to see a roofed passageway that leads further into the courtyard.

Instead, look ahead to see a peculiar wooden door. This is the yokai Nurikabe in disguise. Performing red (hostile) gestures in front of it will cause it to attack you, while blue (friendly) ones allow passage. This one leads to a hot spring where you can rest.

Back in the main courtyard, go through the shrine corridor next to the hot spring door to unlock a shortcut that leads back to the last accessed shrine. With everything done here, you can now head deeper into the shrine by heading past the roofed passage.

Hop across the broken bridge and through the path past the Bell tower to reach the final area. A couple of yokai will be here, including a vase monster. Defeat them or ignore them to head up the stone stairs to reach the shrine doors. Naotora will mention that there is a powerful presence beyond these doors.

This leads to a showdown against the final boss of this Nioh 3 mission: Ryomen Sukuna. This is, quite literally, a two-bodied yokai warrior who decimates anyone who dares step into his path. With four arms at his disposal, he can use an axe, sword, and bow to keep up the pressure.

The Living Artifact ability will be quite useful in taking him down quickly, so ensure you have it filled up. Upon defeating the boss, talk to Ii Naotora to complete Fated Land in Nioh 3.
