Tottenham Hotspur supporters would have been extremely thankful for the curtain falling on the 2025/26 campaign at the final whistle of the victory against Everton.
Joao Palhinha’s goal secured the Lilywhites’ top-flight status for another season, but Roberto De Zerbi certainly won’t tolerate a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League next term.
The Italian was the saviour in North London, subsequently losing just two of his seven league games at the helm and preventing an embarrassing relegation to the second tier.
The summer transfer window presents the new boss with the perfect opportunity to push the Lilywhites back in the right direction and mount a push for the European places.
It remains to be seen how much the hierarchy will hand De Zerbi to spend this window, but it hasn’t stopped him and his staff from drawing up a list of potential targets.
£50m star says yes to join Spurs this summer
After the latest relegation near miss, Spurs certainly will invest in various areas of the pitch to avoid suffering the same fate once again during the 2026/27 campaign.
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba has emerged as one potential target, with the Cameroonian international set to leave the AMEX in the near future.
The Seagulls have placed a £80m asking price on the 22-year-old’s head, as Manchester United continue to monitor his progress ahead of the summer window.
The attacking department also looks set to be bolstered during the upcoming window, with Manchester City winger Savinho once again appearing on their radar.
TEAMtalk’s latest report claims that the player himself would like to move to North London and join the Lilywhites in order to gain needed first-team minutes.
The report states talks are advancing between the two clubs for the 22-year-old, who only managed to score five times across all competitions during the 2025/26 season.
A fee in the region of £50m could be required to secure the Brazilian’s signature, with his representatives already keen on their player working with De Zerbi.
Why Savinho would be De Zerbi’s answer to Heung-min Son
Spurs have spent a pretty penny on new attacking talent over recent seasons, but none of whom have been able to get anywhere near the levels produced by Heung-min Son.
He ended up making a total of 454 appearances during his decade at the club, scoring on 173 occasions, whilst registering 101 assists for his teammates – with his goal tally the fourth-highest in their history.
The South Korean departed the Lilywhites nearly 12 months ago, but no left-winger in the senior ranks has been able to get close to the levels he produced in North London.

Mathys Tel scored four league goals this term – the highest of any winger in the Lilywhites squad – subsequently demonstrating the struggles the club have endured within attacking areas.
However, a move for Savinho this summer could see De Zerbi land his own version of the South Korean – but he would cost a pretty penny if the £50m fee is to be believed.
Like Son, the Brazilian can feature off either flank, but prefers to play off the right and cut onto his favoured left foot – something which the fan favourite did from the opposite side in North London.
Whilst the City star has struggled for consistency this term, he’s still managed to produce numerous impressive figures – many of which are similar to Son in his prime with the Lilywhites.
The Brazilian, who’s been dubbed a “superstar” by Paul Merson, managed to complete 1.9 successful dribbles per 90, whilst registering 1.3 shots on target per 90.
The aforementioned figures highlight his ability to drive past the opposition before troubling the goalkeeper – with Son often doing the same during his decade in the capital.
Savinho also managed to complete 83% of the passes he attempted this campaign, whilst creating 1.3 chances per 90 for his teammates at the Etihad.
His subsequent tallies showcase his ability to find the back of the net alone or even pick out a teammate – you could say making him the perfect all-round forward option.
There’s no denying the Brazilian has struggled to fulfil expectations at the Etihad in recent years, but he’s often had to rely upon minutes off the bench to make an impact.
Under De Zerbi, it’s likely that Savinho would have a starring role in the final third, with such faith in the forward potentially paying dividends in the Premier League next season.
£50m would be an expensive deal for the youngster, but it could prove to be a bargain should he manage to get anywhere near the levels achieved by Son in North London.
A better signing than Savinho: £26m “monster” now wants to join Spurs
