Reanimal was released on February 13, 2026, to a ton of backlash on Steam. The game is available across platforms such as PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s a co-op adventure horror game by Tarsier Studios, the Little Nightmares games. Since it is a co-op game, many were waiting to play it with friends; however, due to a hitch with the Friends Pass, this did not happen.
Players are mostly upset because Friends Pass is not available on Reanimal as promised on some platforms at launch. Here’s how that matters and why.

For those who are unaware, Friends Pass basically enables players to play together as long as one of them owns the base game. This means that if one player purchases the game with Friends Pass, they can invite their friend(s) to play along even if they do not own the game.
Reanimal is a co-op game marketed with the promise of including the Friends Pass, as mentioned in the old announcement below. However, they could not completely fulfill this promise, upsetting many players.
The studio explicitly told fans that Friends Pass will be included in the game, as one can see in this response to a comment:
“It’s included in the game, so pre-order not needed to get it. you get some cool masks though :)”
As the previous announcement shows, Friends Pass was supposed to be included with the game. However, come launch day on February 13, 2026, PC and Xbox players are left unhappy because the feature is yet to arrive.
In another post, Tarsier Studios announced that Friends Pass will be released on PC and Xbox later on and that players will have to wait longer.
The studio apologized for this delay. However, fans bashed the game on Steam and on X for not letting them know about the Friends Pass situation prior to the game’s release. As of the time of writing, Reanimal has amassed almost 300 negative reviews on Steam, leading to a Mostly Negative rating on the platform.
Meanwhile, the exact date of release for the Friends Pass still remains unclear.
