Glasgow Rangers winger Andreas Skov Olsen scored his first goal for the club at Ibrox in front of his own fans in the 5-1 win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday night.
The Light Blues moved to within three points of first place in the Scottish Premiership table with that result, and it was a confidence booster for several members of the squad.
Oliver Antman produced a goal and an assist off the bench, Bojan Miovski scored, Mikey Moore delivered a goal and an assist, whilst Skov Olsen also got off the mark in a Gers jersey.
The Denmark international, who joined on loan from Wolfsburg in the January transfer window, did not register a goal or an assist in his first two outings in the league for the Scottish giants.
His excellent left-footed finish into the top corner from around the penalty spot on Wednesday night was a display of the kind of quality Rangers are hoping to get from him this season.
Why Rangers must be patient with Andreas Skov Olsen
Patience is a virtue that is rarely afforded in football, particularly when a team is in a title race like Rangers. That is why there were some murmurings of discontent online after Skov Olsen’s first two appearances for the club.
In starts against Hibernian and Dundee, the Danish winger took just two shots and did not create a single ‘big chance’ for his teammates from the right flank, as the Gers won 3-0 against Dundee and were held to a 0-0 draw with Hibs.
Skov Olsen deserves patience, though, because he arrived at Ibrox off the back of a difficult year in Germany. He only scored two goals and provided one assist in 20 Bundesliga appearances between January 2025 and January 2026.
Prior to that, the left-footed whiz had consistently showcased his quality at the top end of the pitch for Club Brugge in Belgium, registering 16 or more goal contributions in four consecutive seasons.
Those statistics show that he has the potential to be a phenomenal player for Rangers, but he needs time to find his form again after such a disappointing year with Wolfsburg, which is why he deserves patience, even after his goal against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
Some supporters may be hoping that Skov Olsen, due to his form for Brugge, goes on to become the club’s best signing since Hamza Igamane, who scored 16 goals last season before his move to Lille, but there is another star who may take that title.
Rangers star looks like their best signing since Igamane
It seems fair to say that Igamane has been the club’s best piece of business in the last couple of seasons, as he was plucked from relative obscurity in his home country of Morocco for a fee of £1.7m and turned out to be a superstar.
The Moroccan centre-forward only played one season with the Scottish giants, scoring 16 goals, and earned the club almost £9m in profit when he left to sign for Lille.
It was a phenomenal piece of recruitment by the Light Blues, who were run by Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement at the time. Now, Danny Rohl looks to have found the club’s best signing since Igamane, who is one of their most expensive sales of all time.
Tuur Rommens joined the Gers in January from Belgian side Westerlo for a fee of around £3m, and his debut against Kilmarnock has blown supporters away.
The left-footed starlet came off the bench with 25 minutes left to play and, despite his limited time on the pitch, changed the game for Rangers with the intensity and dynamism that he played with at left-back.

Rommens delivered a brilliant assist for Antman’s first goal for Rangers by racing into the box to cut the ball back for the Finland international, and he also sparked that attack with a Marcelo-esque clip down the line to Moore.
Not to go too far overboard after one appearance, but the Belgian full-back looked like the former Real Madrid star had come out of retirement to play a game at Ibrox.
The 22-year-old star, who was hailed as “brilliant” by Heart & Hand’s David Edgar, looked composed on the ball, quick, forward-thinking, and made brilliant decisions in the final third, hence why he ended up creating two ‘big chances’ in 25 minutes.
Rommens created half as many ‘big chances’ in 25 minutes (two) as Jayden Meghoma has created in 1,771 minutes in the Premiership (four) this season, which suggests that he is set to offer significantly more than the Brentford loanee at the top end of the pitch.
Whilst Skov Olsen is set to take time to settle in and develop his general play, the former Westerlo star looks ready to make an immediate impact after his stunning debut against Kilmarnock.
Rommens could make a huge impact on the second half of the season due to the added creativity, intensity, and quality that he looks to be able to bring in comparison to Meghoma, who has created little, which is why the young defender could be such a brilliant signing.
Like with Igamane, if the Belgian full-back keeps putting in performances like the one he put in on his debut for the club, he will eventually join that list of Rangers’ most expensive sales, whilst Skov Olsen is only at Ibrox on loan for now.
Worse than Miovski: Rangers star just proved why Rohl needs to sign Hjerto-Dahl
This Glasgow Rangers flop showed why the club need to sign Jens Hjerto-Dahl for Danny Rohl in the summer.
