Rangers have now joined the race to sign an in-form striker, who’s already scored as many as 18 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Rohl: Title race “not over” despite draw
It was looking like the perfect night for Rangers. Celtic were dropping points against Livingston and the Gers were on course to defeat Motherwell in a hard-fought victory.
The tide soon swung in the opposite direction, however, when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s winner handed Celtic all three points and their loanee Stephen Welsh netted a shock equaliser to deny Rangers victory at the death in a twist not even the script-writers could make.
Danny Rohl‘s side now sit five points behind leaders Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, making this weekend’s clash a must-win game for the Gers.
It would take some comeback to win the title from here, but Rohl isn’t giving up. He told reporters last night: “It’s not nice. The good thing is we have the next opportunity.
“When you come from so many points behind (from earlier in season), there’s no time for a rest, you have to be on the front foot again and again and again and you have to win games.
49ers consider selling “fantastic” £20,000-a-week Rangers star this summer
Ruthless from the owners…
“But as I said as well today, the title race is not over, it’s a bit of a blow because you dropped the two points very late.
“But on Sunday we have the next opportunity and if our reaction is right, and we take the right result on Sunday, it’s not an easy one, but it’s still a chance for us and we will see. Our fans expect and demand always a win, this is what we demand.”
The draw once again raised questions about Rangers’ firing line and it’s certainly something that they should be looking to address in the summer, starting with a familiar face.
Rangers plotting move to sign Maswanhise
According to Football Insider, Rangers are now plotting a move to sign Tawanda Maswanhise from Motherwell in the summer. The forward will have just one year left on his current deal when the window swings open and Motherwell are now ready to cash-in as a result – handing the Gers a huge boost.

If Rangers are looking for goals, then Maswanhise is their man. The 23-year-old has been on fire in Scotland this season. No player has scored more than his 13 league goals, and he’s also netted five more on top of that in cup competitions.
If Motherwell truly are ready to sell, Rangers should go all out to secure the forward’s signature when the summer transfer window swings open.
The 49ers have proved more than once that they’re not afraid to splash out on attacking additions and that should be on show once more to make up for last summer’s mistakes.
