Micah Parsons’ brother backs Tetairoa McMillan as Panthers OROY apologizes for using a slur

Micah Parsons’ brother, Terrence, chimed in on Tetairoa McMillan’s controversy from earlier this week. The Carolina Panthers‘ wide receiver starred in a confusing moment during an appearance on a livestream video game event on Wednesday.

While playing Madden, McMillan intercepted a pass. He used a racial slur to celebrate the play, which caused a lot of confusion.

“N—a, n—a, pick,” McMillan shouted during Streamer Bowl VII, a charity esports tournament.

He apologized for his comments on Thursday, hours before the 2026 NFL Honors gala.

“Yesterday while on live stream, I used a term I should not have,” McMillan said in a statement posted to his Instagram story. “There’s no excuse for what I said — I sincerely apologize for speaking thoughtlessly and will do better.”

Terrence Parsons Jr. offered his two cents on the situation. He didn’t see anything wrong with McMillan’s actions, noting that he wasn’t racist towards anybody.

“Bro you are allowed to say n***a lmfao what has this world come too he was being him he should never have to apologize for that he’s not white and wasn’t being racist,” Parsons tweeted.

McMillan’s actions drew mixed reactions. While some agreed with Parsons, others called him out for allowing a behavior they considered offensive. McMillan’s apology seemingly prevented the Panthers from issuing a statement themselves.

Thursday ended on a high note for Tetairoa McMillan, though. He was named the 2025 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after recording 70 catches on 122 targets for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns this season. He helped the Panthers win the NFC South, but they couldn’t move past the LA Rams in the wild-card round.

Dez Bryant exhorted Tetairoa McMillan not to be a hypocrite over apology for racial slur

Another person linked to the Dallas Cowboys, Dez Bryant, reacted to Tetairoa McMillan’s apology. The former wide receiver told McMillan to not apologize for being honest.

“Somebody tell bro to never apologize for being honest in the most hypocritical of times in this world.. I bet it wasn’t that serious,” Bryant tweeted.

Just like Parsons, Bryant drew plenty of mixed comments.
