Leeds hold talks over signing ‘standout’ forward to thwart Arsenal deal

Leeds United have held talks over signing a ‘standout’ forward sensation as they look to thwart Arsenal’s deal for him, according to a new report.

Leeds return to action in FA Cup tie with Birmingham

After what was a scintillating 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a result which left talkSPORT’s Jason Cundy cursing the Whites and absolutely ‘fuming’, Daniel Farke‘s side will now be looking to build momentum.

The Whites travel to St Andrew’s seeking progression after salvaging a precious point from two goals down at Stamford Bridge.

Lukas Nmecha’s penalty and substitute Noah Okafor’s controversial equaliser, which appeared to strike Jayden Bogle’s elbow during the build-up, extended Leeds’ survival cushion to six points above the Championship trapdoor.

Last Friday’s Forest triumph proved vital for Farke’s squad as well.

Jayden Bogle and Okafor struck within four first-half minutes before Dominic Calvert-Lewin cleverly chested home his tenth league goal of the campaign, sealing three points which lifted Leeds to 15th.

Saturday’s cup tie offers another welcome opportunity to build more momentum before crucial fixtures against Aston Villa and Man City.

He didn’t hold back.

Birmingham are beatable opposition, allowing Leeds the chance to restore confidence whilst pursuing silverware alongside their survival fight.

Yet, whilst their Premier League survival push dominates headlines, Leeds’ recruitment department continues working tirelessly to identify future talent capable of strengthening the squad.

Leeds hold talks over signing Blackburn Rovers sensation Igor Tyjon

As per journalist Graeme Bailey and TEAMtalk, the Yorkshire outfit is firmly in the increasingly-crowded race for Blackburn Rovers sensation Igor Tyjon.

The 17-year-old forward represents one of England’s brightest striking prospects, despite making just three senior Blackburn appearances.

His prolific Under-21 form, nine goals across 22 matches, has earned widespread admiration from Premier League giants desperately seeking elite youth talent.

Arsenal have emerged as early frontrunners, submitting multiple bids exceeding £1 million throughout the January window which Blackburn repeatedly rejected.

The Gunners remain determined to secure Tyjon’s services, planning a fresh summer approach once his scholarship terms expire at the end of the season.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reacts-1

However, Bailey also reports that Leeds have held talks over a deal for Tyjon, laying out their plans for the teenager as they look to stop him from joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

Farke’s reputation for nurturing young attackers, evidenced by previous successes at Norwich, potentially appeals to Tyjon, who is seeking guaranteed progression rather than languishing in academy systems at mega clubs.

Man United’s recent managerial chaos following Ruben Amorim’s sacking could benefit Leeds’ pitch as well.

Tyjon’s February performances continue to attract scouts, and he’s previously been called a ‘standout‘ young player in Lancashire.

Last month, he scored Blackburn’s fourth goal by heading home during their 5-0 thrashing of Birmingham — showcasing his clinical finishing ability.

Whether Tyjon chooses Elland Road over grander stages remains uncertain, but Saturday’s Birmingham clash offers Leeds the chance to prove they’re building something worth joining.
