“It’s actually being talked about”

When the McMahon family let go of their control over WWE by selling the company to Endeavor in 2023, it sent shockwaves across the wrestling universe. Now, Jonathan Coachman is claiming that the promotion could be sold again, this time to Saudi Arabia, with whom it has developed a robust partnership.

Back in 2018, WWE struck a monumental 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport. Since then, their association has only strengthened, so much so that the global juggernaut promoted its marquee premium live event, Royal Rumble, from Riyadh this year.

If this wasn’t enough, next year’s WrestleMania 43 would also go down in the Middle Eastern country, a sign of just how fruitful the partnership has been for all the parties involved. Jonathan Coachman is now claiming that there are murmurs backstage in the company that it could be sold to Saudi Arabia down the line.

Speaking on his Coach and Bro Show, Coachman stated that WWE was testing the waters of late and that a full sale might come through when they travel to Saudi Arabia next year for WrestleMania 43.

“The whole purpose of having the Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia in January—which is now this month—is a test. A test to see how Saudi Arabia addresses, holds PLEs, and things of that nature. Then, in 15 months, when WrestleMania goes to the same country, that would be the ideal time [for the takeover]. It’s not only becoming a topic that you and I talk about, but it’s actually being talked about backstage in the WWE,” said Jonathan Coachman. (H/T – TJRWrestling)

Vince Russo thinks Triple H is preparing the WWE universe for the upcoming sale

On the same podcast, Vince Russo, also chimed in with his take on the situation. Russo firmly believes that Triple H singing Saudi Arabia’s praises was not for nothing and that he was readying the wrestling world for a time when the country would establish complete control over the promotion.

“With that picture you just showed, there was a quote from Triple H, and I believe in the quote, he talked about all the great things coming with Saudi Arabia. He specifically said that, and when I read that, I’m like…they’re teasing this thing now. Now we’re seeing the office, now he’s talking about great things coming down the pike with Saudi Arabia. I think they are slowly but surely getting the people used to this,” said Russo.

This is strictly speculation at this point, as there’s been no clear cut teases from neither WWE nor Saudi Arabia regarding a potential sale coming through.
