Gangwon will host Shanghai Port at the Chuncheon Songam Sports Town on Wednesday in the penultimate round of the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Elite campaign. Both sides are set to make their return to competitive action for the first time this year on Wednesday and must mark their return with a win or risk elimination from the continental showpiece.
Gangwon picked up impressive wins over Shanghai Shenhua and Vissel Kobe in two of their first three league phase outings, but have seen their momentum stall in their subsequent three matches. They claimed a valuable point in their 2-2 draw with Buriram United last time out in the Champions League, leaving them ninth in the East Region, and could break into the top eight with maximum points this week.
Thanks for the submission!
Shanghai Port are the only side in the East yet to register a win after six matches and now sit rock-bottom in the standings. They need maximum points from their final two games, while also hoping results elsewhere go their way to stand a chance of advancing to the knockout stages.
Port traveled to Malaysia in the previous round of the Champions League for the challenge of JDT and played out a goalless draw, with goalkeeper Wei Chen racking up an incredible 10 saves to keep their opponents at bay.

Gangwon vs Shanghai Port Prediction
Gangwon lost just one of their final five competitive games of 2025 and will be keen to pick up where they left off this week. They are favorites heading into Wednesday’s game due to their home advantage, having lost just one of their last nine games at the Chuncheon Songam Sports Town, and will be looking forward to their next challenge.
With four defeats and two draws in their six games so far, the Red Eagles have looked out of place on the continental stage this season and will need something special to snap that streak on Wednesday.
Prediction: Gangwon 2-1 Shanghai Port
