Caitlin Clark Drops Bold 4-Word Prediction for Pacers After Indiana Pulls Off Last-Minute Trade for 7-Foot Center

WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark predicted that the Indiana Pacers would win the 2027 NBA championship after acquiring Ivica Zubac at the trade deadline.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Indiana received Zubac and guard Kobe Brown from the LA Clippers in exchange for Bennedict Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson, two first-round picks and a second-round pick.

Clark, who plays for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, predicted that the trade positions the Pacers as champions next season.

“Pacers 2027 world champions,” Clark tweeted on Thursday.

Zubac will be the Pacers’ starting center for the foreseeable future, as he is in the first season of his three-year, $58.6 million contract. Many believe that acquiring Zubac will benefit the team next season. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton is still recovering from an ACL injury and is expected to be sidelined this season.

Entering Thursday, Indiana is at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 13-38 record. Aside from Haliburton, the team has also dealt with injuries to key players.

Caitlin Clark has developed a friendship with Haliburton. She, along with her Fever teammates, attended several Pacers games last season, including the NBA Finals. In addition, Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, previously worked for the Pacers.

Caitlin Clark reacts to Payton Pritchard’s buzzer-beater

During Sunday’s pregame broadcast on NBC, Reggie Miller was asked about Caitlin Clark’s NBA comparison. Fans were caught off guard as Miller compared the WNBA superstar to Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard. While Pritchard is a solid player, many expected that a generational talent like Clark would be compared to the likes of Steph Curry.

On Tuesday on X, Clark reposted Pritchard nailing a buzzer-beater and added three emojis. Pritchard, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, made a mid-range jumper to end the first quarter against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.

NBC tapped Caitlin Clark as a special contributor to its live pregame show. On Sunday, she appeared alongside host Maria Taylor, Carmelo Anthony and Miller. Clark is scheduled to reprise the role on March 29 when the OKC Thunder host the New York Knicks.
