Miss Piggy recently revealed that singer Ariana Grande was her dream guest for The Muppet Show. ET Online recently interviewed the famous Muppets character, along with Kermit the Frog, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the popular television series. The series premiered a brand new episode of The Muppet Show on February 4, 2026, to celebrate the milestone. The episode was executive-produced by pop star Sabrina Carpenter and Seth Rogen.
On February 3, 2026, ET Online posted a new interview with Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog, where the interviewer asked the two about their dream guest, with Miss Piggy replying:
“How about Ariana Grande? I’m sure she wouldn’t mind working with [Kermit], she’s worked with green people before.”
Miss Piggy’s answer is a reference to Ariana Grande’s role in Wicked and Wicked: For Good, where the singer played Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo, who played Elphaba, aka the Wicked Witch of the West, who has green skin.
Ariana Grande expressed her wish to join the Miss Piggy movie
Miss Piggy’s answer about Ariana Grande being her dream guest came weeks after the singer said she was “open” to join the cast of the upcoming Miss Piggy movie, produced by Jenifer Lawrence and Emma Stone. The movie was first announced in November 2025.
Lawrence revealed that she and Stone were joining forces to produce the movie during her appearance on the podcast Las Culturistas, adding that Cole Escola was writing the screenplay. The Hunger Games actress also suggested that she and Stone would be part of the cast.
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande was asked about potentially joining the two actresses as a co-star for the Miss Piggy movie at the 2026 Golden Globes. During the ET: Live on the Golden Globes Carpet pre-show on January 11, Entertainment Tonight‘s Kevin Frazier asked Grande about the rumors that she was part of the upcoming movie, to which the singer responded:
“Oh, really? I mean I’m open, hello. No, I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m kidding. I, you know, I’m a big fan of The Muppets.”
Jennifer Lawrence was later asked about Ariana Grande’s potential inclusion in the film, with the actress replying that she would “love for her to be in the movie.”
Not much information is known about the Miss Piggy movie as of this article. Jennifer Lawrence shed more light on the movie when she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2025.
The actress said the idea for the movie came from Emma Stone during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that Stone dubbed Miss Piggy a “feminist icon” and wondered how funny it would be if she “got canceled.” Lawrence also quickly clarified that it was “not the plot necessarily,” but it “got the wheels turning.”
In an interview with W Magazine dated January 6, 2026, Emma Stone confirmed that neither she nor Jennifer Lawrence would be embodying the famous Muppets character, saying:
“First of all, that is the biggest insult to Miss Piggy I’ve ever heard, and I will not have her name dragged through the mud like that. Why would I play a literal star? She’s the greatest. No, of course I’m not playing Miss Piggy. And neither is Jen. We pale in comparison. Are you out of your mind? Miss Piggy is playing Miss Piggy. She would be storming out right now at the mere suggestion.”
In other news, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the Wicked song Defying Gravity at the awards ceremony on February 1, 2026. Neither actress was at the ceremony to collect the award.
The win came even as the actresses were snubbed at the upcoming Oscar awards, with the sequel, Wicked: For Good, picking up zero nominations. Meanwhile, Wicked received 10 nominations at the 2025 Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Erivo and Best Supporting Actress for Grande.
