Rangers closely monitoring Dundee’s Luke Graham with Celtic also plotting move

Rangers have been showing an interest in signing a Scottish Premiership star, having recently conducted a scouting mission, but there could be competition from bitter rivals Celtic.

Gers eyeing summer signings as title race heats up

Prior to the international break, the Gers were handed a boost in their pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title, with Celtic succumbing to a 2-0 defeat against Dundee United away from home, on the same day Danny Rohl‘s side ran out emphatic 4-1 winners against Aberdeen at Ibrox.

The result means the Light Blues are now two points clear of their Old Firm rivals, but there is still plenty of work to do, as they remain three points adrift of league leaders Hearts, who most recently defeated Dundee 1-0 at home.

A solid defence has been the key to Hearts’ success, who have won their last four matches at Tynecastle 1-0, and their ability to grind out results means it could be difficult for Rohl’s side to catch them, as we enter the business end of the season.

The Ibrox outfit have also been solid from a defensive point of view for large parts of the campaign, conceding just one more goal than the Jam Tarts in the Scottish Premiership, but they remain keen on bringing in a new centre-back inthe summer transfer window.

“Outstanding” defender in Rangers’ and Celtic’s sights

According to a report from The Daily Record, Rangers are now closely monitoring Dundee FC defender Luke Graham, recently conducting a scouting mission to watch him in action for Scotland U21s against Czechia U21s.

The Glasgow side are not alone in their pursuit of the centre-back, however, with Celtic also plotting a move, and writer Scott Burns has suggested a whole host of clubs could be in the race for his signature.

It is no shock the 22-year-old is attracting so much interest, having been one of Dundee’s most consistent performers in the Scottish Premiership this season, averaging a 7.10 FotMob match rating, which is the highest in the squad.

No Dundee player is averaging more accurate passes per 90 than the Scottish defender (36.4), and he is also skilled at winning back possession, having averaged 1.3 interceptions per 90, which is more than the vast majority of Rohl’s squad.

Graham may now be ready to take the next step in his career by joining one of Scotland’s top clubs, and Rangers winning the Scottish Premiership title could give them the edge over Celtic in the race for his signature.
