UConn Huskies basketball coach Dan Hurley got some love for his wife, Andrea, on Valentine’s Day.
To celebrate the romantic occasion, she took a trip down memory lane to reminisce about her love story with her husband. On her Instagram story, she shared a photo of herself and Hurley back when they were in their youth.
Andrea accompanied the photo with a caption that read:
“Valentine’s Day is for amateurs and that ain’t us,” Andrea wrote.
Andrea and Dan Hurley’s love story began back when they were students at Seton Hall. Back in 2023, the UConn coach admitted that meeting his wife was the best part of his college days.
“I met her at Seaton Hall,” Hurley told during an interview with WTHN. “It’s like, by far, the best thing that happened to me at Seaton Hall, but that was the thing that saved my life when I met her and changed my life and made me want to be better.”
The couple married back in 1997. They welcomed their first son, Danny, in 1999 and their second son, Andrew, in 2002. Andrea has been a vocal supporter of her husband’s coaching career.
Dan Hurley took over as the coach of the UConn Huskies back in 2018. Last season, they finished with a 24-11 record while making it to the round of 32 of the NCAA tournament. Before that, he led the program to back-to-back national championships.
Dan Hurley opens up about his religious devotion
During a press conference on Tuesday, Dan Hurley talked about his faith in God and how it plays a role in his job as a coach.
“You know, for me, when I get back in the locker room after a great victory, I find just a couple of minutes to pray,” Hurley said. “To pray to God and to be grateful and thankful for giving me and, you know, the team the strength and then when you go though the struggles too.
“It’s the faith, it’s your faith in God that gets you through the tough times. So whether it’s good times, the bad times, you know, your faith in Jesus Christ is what’s going to be a rock.”
This season, Dan Hurley and the Huskies have so far put up a 24-2 record. On Saturday, they secured a 79-75 victory over the Georgetown Hoyas at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs.
