FSU’s Luke Loucks braces for home reaction after buying 500 beers for fans at Virginia game

Luke Loucks bought 500 beers for Florida State students in the Seminoles’ game against the Virginia Cavaliers. It was in fulfilment of his pre-game promise to pay for the first 500 beers purchased by fans at the game.

The Tucker Center as the Seminoles narrowly lost 61-58. While the students were elated with Loucks’ gesture, his wife might not be best pleased.

“I hope they had a good time. Someone yelled at me when I was walking into halftime that we need to do this every game. I don’t think my wife would agree with that when she checks our checking account. Loucks said.

“When you’re building a program, everyone has to step up in different ways and sometimes entice people to come to the games when we’re not a top 25 team.”

Loucks is in his first year as a head coach. He previously worked as an assistant in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. He won two NBA rings during his time with the Warriors.

Loucks is Florida State through and through, as he spent four seasons as a combo guard with the Seminoles. He was named to the ACC All-Academic Team in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Luke Loucks’ FSU Seminoles aim to finish season strong

The Virginia Cavaliers loss was Luke Loucks’ FSU Seminoles first in four games. The program looked to get back to .500 after a forgettable start to January.

FSU must now dust off and prepare for a trip to Virginia Tech to face off against the Hokies. The Hokies are 17-8 (6-6), and are fresh off a 76-66 win over the Clemson Tigers.

FSU will enter the game as an underdog due to Virginia Tech’s recent form. They’ll need to be on their A-game as they face off against one of the better teams in the ACC.

Seminoles fans will look to see what Luke Loucks has up his sleeve. However, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be buying any more beers for fans until further notice
