iShowSpeed Admits Giannis Isn’t a ‘Friend’ as You Tuber Explains Their Off-Court Bond

Darren Watkins, popularly known as iShowSpeed, met Giannis Antetokounmpo during his ongoing world tour stream in July 2025. The popular streamer and the Bucks star shared a lot of time on stream. Antetokounmpo took Speed out to see the places he grew up in.

Speed shared his thoughts on the bond he shares with the Bucks star on Thursday’s episode of Yahoo Sports’ “Daily Loud.”

“That’s my brother. i don’t think I have never clicked with an athlete like that before,” Speed said. “Me and him have such a good chemistry. I felt like he was just my friend. I didn’t even think of him as a basketball player, Giannis Antetokounmpo. I was like that’s my guy.”

The 2025 Streamer of the Year recalled the time the Bucks star took him to the basketball court, where he dunked a basketball for the first time. Later, Speed revealed that he and Antetokounmpo are still in contact.

“We still text from time to time. He texted me during my Africa tour, so we still check up on each other. I just need to go to one of his games which I promised him.”

iShowSpeed completed his 28-day Africa Tour on Jan. 27. He has yet to announce the next country he will visit.

Giannis Antetokounmpo once denied racing iShowSpeed

iShowSpeed has a habit of racing celebrities, influencers and random challengers on his streams. The 2025 Streamer of the Year has raced notable named likes iinfluencer Ashton Hall and Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles.

So when Speed met Giannis Antetokoumpo during his visit to Greece, he challenged the Bucks star to a race. However, the Bucks star shut down the streamer’s challenge.

“What, a race? Nah, I don’t want that s**t,” Giannis admitted. “I’m real, bro. You know, if I work out for like two years, just track and field workouts every day, maybe I have a chance, but like I told you, racing Ashton Hall, you smoked him like four times in a row.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo is not the only player who has appeared on a live stream with iShowSpeed. The world-renowned streamer has also featured Kevin Durant on his livestream.

The Rockets star taught Speed the basics of basketball while also talking about life. Durant was also featured as an instructor on episode four of the streamer’s “Speed Goes Pro” YouTube video series, where KD taught him more about basketball and what it takes to be elite in the sport.
