Women’s singles predictions ft. Iga Swiatek vs Janice Tjen, Elisabetta Cocciaretto vs Coco Gauff

Day 2 of the 2026 Qatar Open’s women’s singles main draw action witnessed a mix of great tennis as well as some unfortunate mid-match retirements. Defending champion Amanda Anisimova bowed out with illness while trailing Karolina Pliskova in the second round. Emma Raducanu too, retired mid-match in her first-round outing against Camila Osorio. Meanwhile, Mirra Andreeva, Janice Tjen, Anna Kalinskaya, Maria Sakkari, Jelena Ostapenko, Zheng Qinwen and Linda Noskova were among the worthy winners.

On Day 3, 14 second-round matches are set to be played, which will feature top seed Iga Swiatek, second seed Elena Rybakina, fourth seed Coco Gauff and several other high-profile names in action. Read on to know Sportskeeda‘s predictions for some of the most eagerly-awaited women’s singles matches scheduled to take place in Doha on Tuesday, February 10.

Iga Swiatek received a first-round bye in Doha courtesy her top seed status and will begin her campaign against Indonesian star Janice Tjen. The WTA 1000 event in Doha is set to mark the Pole’s first competitive outing following her quarterfinal exit from the Australian Open.

Swiatek, a former three-time Qatar Open champion and the current World No. 2, is the firm favorite on paper to secure a win over Tjen, the 23-year-old Indonesian star currently ranked 46th in the WTA Tour’s singles rankings. The former No. 1 and six-time Major champion’s familiarity with the court and conditions in Doha, combined with Tjen’s relative inexperience of facing top opposition, should work in the Pole’s favor.

Predicted winner: Iga Swiatek

2. Elisabetta Cocciaretto vs Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff‘s most recent campaign at this year’s Australian Open was surprisingly derailed in the quarterfinals by a resurgent Elina Svitolina. After the chastening 1-6, 2-6 loss to the Ukrainian, Gauff cut an utterly frustrated figure, with cameras catching the American obliterating her racket behind the scenes.

At the 2026 Qatar Open, Gauff has the chance to reset and rediscover her best form, and her upcoming second-round clash against Elisabetta Cocciaretto should allow her to do just that. The 21-year-old American boasts a 3-0 head-to-head lead against the Italian and is yet to drop a set in the rivalry.

Predicted winner: Coco Gauff

3. Wang Xinyu vs Elena Rybakina

Elena Rybakina heads into her second-round opener in Doha against Wang Xinyu on an euphoric high, having clinched the second Major title of her career at this year’s Australian Open with a final win over reigning World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

The World No. 3 Kazakh has previously clashed on two occasions against Wang, and on both occasions, she has registered straight-set victories over the Chinese star. The pair’s Doha encounter, in all likelihood, will follow the same pattern.

Predicted winner: Elena Rybakina

4. Vera Zvonareva vs Victoria Mboko

19-year-old Victoria Mboko of Canada, seeded No. 10 at the 2026 Qatar Open, won her first-round battle against Marie Bouzkova in straight sets and should be confident of getting past 41-year-old veteran qualifier Vera Zvonareva, despite the Russian’s emphatic first-round comeback win over Peyton Stearns.

The fact that Mboko is 22 years younger than Zvonareva should help the Canadian in producing a significantly more energetic performance, which the 41-year-old is likely to struggle to deal with. Also, the teenager heads into the contest having played more elite-level matches than the veteran Russian in recent months.

Predicted winner: Victoria Mboko
