AEW has witnessed a number of big signings over the past few years. Now, the company’s CEO Tony Khan has claimed that more acquisitions could be on the way, noting that he is always on the lookout for exceptional talent.
While quite a few people formerly from the All Elite Wrestling roster have left the company as of late- the latest example being former TNT and World Trios Champion Powerhouse Hobbs– the promotion has also witnessed several massive additions to the locker-room recently. For instance, The Rascalz made their television and in-ring debuts not too long ago. Tommaso Ciampa is another example, as he arrived in All Elite Wrestling last month and has already captured his first singles title there.
These acquisitions took place around the same time as those of other prominent budding names like Hyan, Maya World, Alec Price, Jordan Oliver, not to mention CMLL stars like Hechicero, Mascara Dorada and Persephone, who were offered dual contracts with the Jacksonville-based company. Now, during an interview with 107.7 The Bone’s Baby Huey, Tony Khan has hinted at further potential signings for All Elite Wrestling, claiming that he is always assessing the market for skilled performers.
“I am constantly evaluating the market and scouting for fantastic wrestlers if they’re available to join AEW. And AEW’s where the best wrestle and it will be for a long time.” [H/T – Ringside News]
It remains to be seen if AJ Styles could be one of these future additions to the All Elite roster, now that his WWE career is over.
AEW head honcho Tony Khan comments on Tommaso Ciampa
Days after confronting Mark Briscoe and answering his TNT Title Open Challenge, Tommaso Ciampa battled The Sussex County Chicken on the January 31 episode of Collision and unseated the latter for the TNT Championship. This past weekend, The “Psycho Killer” mounted his first successful defense of the belt in a three-way against Claudio Castagnoli and Roderick Strong.
During his interview with 107.7 The Bone, Tony Khan heaped praise on Ciampa, complimenting the former NXT Champion over his in-ring prowess, and voicing excitement over the star’s future in the company.
“He’s a fantastic wrestler, and to have somebody of his quality come in, instantly he’s additive in AEW. We’ve got somebody that’s joined us who can have fantastic matches. Whether it’s an old rival or somebody fresh and new that he’s never been matched up against, there are so many exciting possibilities for Tommaso Ciampa in AEW.” [H/T WrestleTalk on X]
Ciampa will be in action this week on Dynamite, where he will defend his TNT Title against Kyle Fletcher.
