Why Rockstar Games needs to release GTA 6 Online along with story mode

Rockstar Games has remained mysteriously silent about GTA 6 Online, while revealing loads of information about the story mode. Back in 2013, the company released GTA 5 Online a month after the story mode, which kept players hooked in the franchise. This time, Rockstar Games’ silence has many fans concerned about when they will get a multiplayer version of the game.

An argument can be made that GTA 6 Online should release along with the story mode.

Reasons why GTA 6 Online should release with story mode

GTA 6 is expected to be one of the largest titles in gaming history, including its story mode. Irrespective of its size, many players might be able to quickly finish the story in a week or two. Those players will not have much to do except replay the story mode and to explore the world for a while.

Since GTA Online has been the bread and butter for many gamers, they would quickly want to shift to GTA 6 Online, make their own character, and enjoy the game with friends.

Of course, there will be some who will complete the game in multiple months, taking their time, but a large group of players will finish the game quickly and feel a void before the multiplayer title releases. To keep these players hooked in their new title, Rockstar Games should release GTA 6 Online along with its story mode.

Most players might not want to return to GTA 5 Online

It is safe to say that GTA 5 Online will experience a massive dip in popularity when GTA 6 comes out, particularly because most players are bored with the 16-year-old game now. If GTA 6 Online is not available after they complete the story mode, they would not want to return to GTA 5 Online. This might eventually cause them to leave Rockstar’s new game and turn towards other titles that offer multiplayer gameplay.

Hence, the developers should release the multiplayer title on November 19, 2026, as well, so that players are not forced to return to Los Santos for a multiplayer experience.
