Nottingham Forest make enquiry to sign Caleb Yirenkyi as transfer race heats up

Nottingham Forest have now made an enquiry over a deal for a “crazily good” midfielder, who’s been in impressive form.

Forest set sights on new midfielder amid Anderson uncertainty

With Elliot Anderson starting to establish himself as an England regular, it is only natural the central midfielder is starting to attract interest from elsewhere, and the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have been named as potential suitors.

It has been a difficult season for the Tricky Trees, sitting just three points above the relegation zone, following the 3-1 defeat against Leeds United last time out, but the Englishman has been by far their most consistent performer in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has also featured for 2,250 minutes in the Premier League, the joint-highest of any player in Sean Dyche‘s squad, so the manager could have his work cut out finding a replacement if he does move on at the end of the season.

However, a new target has now entered the frame, with a report from TEAMtalk revealing Nottingham Forest have submitted an enquiry over a deal for FC Nordsjaelland midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi, but there could be fierce competition for his signature.

A whole host of Premier League clubs have joined Forest in the race for Yirenkyi, including Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, which showcases just how highly he is regarded.

It would take an offer of at least £22m to tempt the Danish club into a sale, and they remain in a strong negotiating position for the time being, having recently tied the 20-year-old down to a new deal, which runs until 2030.

“Crazily good” Yirenkyi could be future star

Nordsjaelland ace Amoako Junior has recently singled his teammate out for very high praise, saying: “He’s crazily good. I say this every time because he delivers almost every time, every game, and to keep that consistency is top level.

Worse than Jesus: Nottingham Forest flop must not start again this season

This Nottingham Forest flop is worse than Igor Jesus must never start again in the Premier League this season.

“Caleb is a superstar, and I tell him so much every time, but he wants to achieve a lot too.”

The youngster has been a key player for the Danish side this season, featuring in 18 Superliga matches, during which time he’s displayed his attacking qualities by contributing two goals and five assists.

Most recently, the Ghanaian’s defensive attributes were also on display in his side’s 2-1 victory against Sonderjyske.

Yirenkyi appears to be a well-rounded midfielder, who has the ability to become a future star, so Nottingham Forest should make a move this summer, regardless of whether Anderson leaves.
