The governor of California posted a clip with a caption that appeared to troll Trump and those opposed to the Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show. The post was in all-caps, which suggests he is aware that his comments would spark a backlash from Republicans and those opposed.

The clip included a montage of images of President Trump and Bad Bunny, with a hip-hop song in the background. It also included the audio of an interview clip in which Trump called Bunny’s inclusion in the event “ridiculous.”
It also included an image of a dumpster on fire with a “Trump 2024” sticker plastered on the side. It also included an image of the famous Bad Bunny critique of the president: “¿Tu eres twitero o presidente?” In English: “Are you a tweeter or a president?”

NFL fans reacted in droves to Gavin Newsom’s X post. Many fans backed up Newsom while others rejected the post.
“Protect that man from every hater!! He is what America is all about!! Freedom for all!!” one posted.
“Good day for music, bad day for MAGA…” one added.
“HAPPY BUNNY DAY is making MAGA heads explode,” another posted.
For every fan that backed Newsom and Bunny, there was another calling out the decision or the governor.
“Meanwhile, Kid Rock makes music for people who met their wives at family reunions,” another posted.
“Gavin, keep simping this hard and Bunny might let you carry his purse next tour,” one jabbed.
“By the sounds of it this will be one of the least liked halftime shows out there,” another predicted.
The halftime show will take place halfway through the game at the end of the second quarter, after the clock runs out of time, and the members of the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks arrive at their locker rooms.
The halftime show is expected to be extended for an extra 15 minutes over a typical halftime to make time for the mini-concert. After the end of the concert, the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will return to the field, and the game will continue as normal until a final winner is decided.
