NFL analyst rips NBC’s Maria Taylor’s character ahead of Super Bowl LX

NBC’s Maria Taylor is hosting the five-hour Super Bowl LX pregame show from Levi’s Stadium ahead of the season finale between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. She will also host the Vince Lombardi trophy ceremony.

Bobby Burack, OutKick media columnist, blasted Taylor’s character ahead of the Super Bowl on Sunday via X.

“It’s hard to watch Maria Taylor, who is very talented, host this Super Bowl and not remember how poorly she treated people on her exit out of ESPN,” Burack wrote. “There’s an argument she’s the most rotten person in all of TV. Ask anyone who dealt with her in 2020.”

ESPN promoted Taylor to NBA Countdown in 2020, over Rachel Nichols, amid its diversity commitments. Nichols’ off-camera rant, in which he claimed Taylor got NBA Finals hosting duties due to race rather than merit, leaked. She joined NBC immediately for the Olympics after failing to reach a salary agreement with ESPN.

Taylor has hosted Football Night in America, the Olympics, the Big Ten, and now Super Bowl LX coverage at NBC. She is joined by co-hosts Noah Eagle and Jac Collinsworth, plus analysts Tony Dungy, Jason Garrett, Rodney Harrison, Devin McCourty, and Chris Simms on the pregame show.

The Patriots vs. Seahawks game is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Maria Taylor shares her feelings about hosting Super Bowl LX pregame show and trophy ceremony

Maria Taylor will handle the Vince Lombardi trophy presentation after hosting the five-hour pregame show. The sportscaster opened up about the responsibilities during her appearance on “SI Media with Jimmy Traina” on Thursday.

“I will say it’s a tremendous privilege to be the person that is presenting the Lombardi Trophy,” Taylor said. “You know what I mean? How rare [it is]. I mean, working the Super Bowl in general, too, but things like that, those are pinch-me moments outside of the already unbelievable situations that are happening for the entire month of February.”

Taylor joked that the biggest task during the Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation is to keep the players from taking the mic. She revealed that the trophy ceremony is about managing intense emotions after the Super Bowl. Sometimes the host has to incorporate a sponsor or a very specific name.

The NBC host knows how to handle the pressure when the lights shine bright. But it would be a massive task for her to keep things smooth postgame.
