Leeds United are now showing strong interest in bringing in an “exceptional” player, who Sunderland tried to sign during the summer transfer window.
Leeds making plans for summer transfer window
Although the January transfer window has only just ended, Leeds have already started making plans for the summer, and it is looking increasingly likely they will be able to offer Premier League football to any new arrivals.
Indeed, the Whites have been in very solid form, having not lost a home game since the end of November, during which time they’ve defeated the likes of Chelsea and Fulham at Elland Road, while they also picked up a victory against Nottingham Forest last time out.
Daniel Farke‘s side moved six points clear of the Tricky Trees courtesy of a 3-1 win, although they are still just six points clear of the bottom three, with West Ham United picking up a 2-0 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
As such, Farke’s work is far from done, but the 49ers have now started identifying targets ahead of the summer transfer window, and bringing in a new central midfielder is on the agenda.
That is according to a report from Africa Foot, which states Leeds are now showing strong interest in signing Royal Charleroi SC midfielder Yacine Titraoui, off the back of his impressive form in the Jupiler Pro League this season.
Sunderland tried and failed to sign Titraoui last summer, but a move to England is starting to look increasingly likely, given that he recently joined an agency that specialises in securing moves to the Premier League.
Charleroi paid €1.2m (£1m) to sign the midfielder, and they are reluctant to let him leave, having already knocked back proposals from English, French and Belgian clubs, so it remains to be seen whether a deal will be possible.
“Exceptional” Titraoui could be ready for big move
The Algerian has certainly impressed in a Charleroi shirt this season, having been lauded as “exceptional” by scout Chebli Ishaq back in December.
Better than Calvert-Lewin: Leeds ace looks like “one of the best” in the PL
This Leeds United star who was better than Dominic Calvert-Lewin is looking like one of the best players in the Premier League.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the 22-year-old’s game is his ability to win back possession, averaging 1.4 interceptions per game, the highest in the Charleroi squad, while an average of 1.9 interceptions ranks him in third place.
However, the central midfielder is also skilled on the front foot, netting four goals in 22 Jupiler Pro League matches this season, and grabbing two assists in four Croky Cup outings.
As such, Titraoui could now be ready to test himself in the Premier League, and Elland Road should be an attractive destination, should Leeds manage to remain in the top flight.
