Atlanta Falcons rookie James Pearce Jr. is facing serious scrutiny following an incident involving his ex-girlfriend, Rickea Jackson. Pearce was arrested in Miami on multiple charges, including battery, after allegedly ramming his car into Jackson’s vehicle during a dispute.
The linebacker was arrested on Saturday by officials after a brief car chase, with the list of his charges being shared by Mike Garafolo on X (formerly Twitter).
“#Falcons edge James Pearce Jr. was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (two counts), aggravated stalking and fleeing/eluding police,” Garafolo wrote. “@WPLGLocal10 reports Pearce was arrested after crashing his vehicle following a police chase.”
The rookie could face up to five charges, including battery and evading police. Reports state that the incident with WNBA star Rickea Jackson began as a domestic dispute but escalated when Pearce allegedly rammed his Lamborghini into Jackson’s car multiple times in an attempt to stop her from going to the police.
Pearce was then involved in a car chase with the police before crashing his car near Northwest 103rd Avenue and 66th Street, which led to his arrest.
While details are still emerging, the linebacker appears to be in serious trouble, with the Atlanta Falcons stating the situation.
“We are aware of an incident involving James Pearce Jr., in Miami,” the statement read. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time.”
After a promising rookie season in which he emerged as a key figure on the Falcons’ defense, Pearce could now be facing a lengthy suspension and potential jail time if he is found guilty of the charges.

James Pearce Jr.’s situation involving his ex-girlfriend Rickea Jackson continues to take a darker turn as new details emerge about their public domestic dispute. Following his arrest on multiple charges, including battery, further reports have provided more clarity on the incident.
Andy Slater shared updates on the situation on X (formerly Twitter), claiming it all began after Pearce stalked Jackson on Saturday.
“This entire situation started after Pearce Jr. allegedly stalked his ex from his car,” Slater wrote. “(He) tried to get into her car at an intersection, I’m told. She sped away, but he still continued to go after her.”
At the time of writing, Pearce remains in custody at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with his bond yet to be set.
