The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced a massive cash prize of INR 7.5 crore for Ayush Mhatre and co. after winning the 2026 U-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe. The Boys in Blue emerged triumphant against England in the final at the Harare Sports Club, on Friday, February 6.
This marks the sixth time that India have won the U-19 World Cup, with this being their third title win since 2018. The Indian youth side enjoyed an unbeaten campaign, and brought out their best in the business end of the campaign, with famous wins over Afghanistan and England to conclude proceedings.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed a record 80-ball 175 to steer India to 411-9, a total which proved to be more than enough as the Thomas Rew-led England U-19 team could only finish with 311 in reply.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia lauded Ayush Mhatre and co’s performance during the campaign, and officially announced an INR 7.5 crore reward for their exploits.
“The BCCI and the rest of the Indians are proud of the junior U-19 men’s team for the way they defeated England yesterday, they won the tournament without losing a single match. So, we are very happy for them, and proud of them. So, the BCCI, after watching their performances, have announced a reward of INR 7.5 crore, which will be distributed among the players, coaches, and the selectors,” Saikia told ANI.
The Indian team are reportedly set to arrive in the country with the trophy on Sunday, February 8.

Team India are now the six-time winners of the competition, two more than the second-placed Australia. Following a memorable unbeaten campaign, the squad were showered with praise. BCCI president Mithun Manhas hailed the team’s confidence and character over the course of the tournament.
“Winning the Under-19 World Cup for the sixth time is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of India’s strength in age-group cricket. This team played with confidence and character throughout the tournament. Holding both the men’s and women’s Under-19 World Cup titles is a matter of immense pride and highlights the depth of our cricketing structure,” Mithun Manhas said in a statement relased by the BCCI.
The U-19 side have a bright future ahead of them, with a majority of them already securing IPL contracts with different franchises in the league.
