Jon Gruden takes on Roger Goodell as ex-Raiders HC challenges NFL over leaked email controversy forcing his exit from Las Vegas

Jon Gruden wants to use NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, along with a few other team owners, as potential witnesses after having filed a lawsuit against the pro league, reports claimed on Wednesday. Gruden has alleged that the league purposefully leaked damaging emails that forced him to resign as the Las Vegas Raiders’ coach in October 2021.

Several media outlets published emails that showed Gruden using racist, sexist, and anti-gay language in communications with former Commanders general manager Bruce Allen. At the time the messages were sent, Gruden was working as an analyst at ESPN.

Along with Goodell, Gruden’s attorneys are seeking testimony from former Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder, Raiders owner Mark Davis, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jone,s New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and former NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith.

The filing suggests that Goodell, with the former and current NFL team owners, would testify regarding the league’s investigation into the Commanders and the alleged “pressuring of the Raiders to terminate Gruden.”

Goodell and the NFL have denied Gruden’s allegations.

The filing on Wednesday also suggests that there have been no settlement talks between Gruden and Goodell.
