“I’m retired,” Current WWE star officially confirms his in-ring career is over

Both AJ Styles and John Cena have walked away from WWE in recent months, but it seems that the retirements may not have come to an end just yet.

With rumors that Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, and Brock Lesnar could be looking to hang up their boots, Big E has finally addressed his WWE future.

The former New Day member suffered a neck injury in March 2022 and officially retired last year. He was now able to address any potential options when it comes to returning to the ring as part of a recent appearance on Compas on the Beat.

“I’m content. In wrestling they always say ‘never say never’, but right now I’m retired, and that for me is it. I’m focused on other things right now.” he claimed.

Big E has been able to transition into new roles in WWE, now working on the pre-show panels, and has successfully made the move into a non-wrestling role that allows him to remain with the company.

Big E offered to manage The New Day on WWE RAW

It’s been more than a year since The New Day kicked Big E out of the group and officially turned heel. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods opted to go ahead as a duo rather than reunite.

Big E offered to manage the group and help them through the rough patch they were going through, but they refused and instead recruited Grayson Waller.

The New Day have since won the Tag Team Championships as a duo, and it’s clear that Big E is still backing his former friends, who were part of a team together for almost a decade, but he made it clear that returning to the ring wasn’t in his future.

Following his neck injury, Big E has opted not to continue with the physical side of the business and almost four years after the inital injury, it seems he’s content with his decision.
