Where was Wuthering Heights (2026) filmed? Complete guide to all filming locations and other production details

Based on Emily Brontë’s classic 1847 novel, Wuthering Heights tells the story of intense and often destructive love between Catherine Earnshaw (Margot Robbie) and Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi), a brooding foundling taken in by Catherine’s family on the Yorkshire moors. The film is set to hit the theaters on February 13, 2026.

Filming took place in the United Kingdom, with the cast and crew working from late January to early April 2025. Much of the production was held in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Some indoor and controlled scenes were filmed at Sky Studios Elstree in Hertfordshire.

Wuthering Heights supporting cast includes Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton and Martin Clunes as Mr. Earnshaw, among others. The young versions of Heathcliff and Catherine are played by Owen Cooper and Charlotte Mellington, respectively.

Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the lead roles, Wuthering Heights was filmed primarily on location across North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, with key landscapes chosen to reflect the raw, elemental spirit of the moors that are central to Emily Brontë’s classic novel.

Much of the filming took place in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, including valleys such as Arkengarthdale, Swaledale, and the village of Low Row, where open fields, stone cottages and windswept hills helped create the romantic world of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff.

The production team of Wuthering Heights also went to Bridestones Moor, above Todmorden, where a large crew silmed intense moorland scenes in the middle of the rugged, remote terrain. For interiors and controlled set pieces, the filming took place in Sky Studios Elstree in Hertfordshire.

Director Emerald Fennell chose to rely heavily on real locations so the environment would feel like a living presence rather than a backdrop. Working with cinematographer Linus Sandgren, she worked with natural light, fog, and wide landscapes to reflect the isolation and emotional weight at the heart of the novel.

Additional locations such as Bridestones Moor, Old Gang lead mines, and Melbecks Moor were used to heighten the film’s raw atmosphere. Behind the scenes, the filming was challenging at times for cast members, especially Jacob Elordi.

He revealed that the long days in cold weather and stark landscapes left him feeling “out of sorts” and battling heavy moods while filming. He also shared that during production he sustained second-degree burns after accidentally leaning against a hot steam shower knob while trying to wash off the grime and makeup from the shoot. Speaking to the Esquire magazine, he stated:

“As Heathcliff, I was covered in mange and dirt, and I thought, ‘I’m not going to do that again, I’m going to clean my feet properly every night and come in to work fresh the next day.’ So I went to clean my feet, and I leant back and my back seared into the steam knob and I stood up screaming; it tore up my back. When I went to work on Monday I had a second-degree burn.”

The injury was serious enough to land him in the hospital, and he later recounted it with wry humor, noting how it ironically aligned with the intense, visceral nature of his role. After the post-production wrapped up, Wuthering Heights premiered at TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on January 28, 2026, ahead of its theatrical release on February 13, 2026.
