JD Vance has shared his thoughts on Vogue’s latest piece on Gavin Newsom. He compared the latter to Soviet revolutionary Joseph Stalin, taking digs at the publication.
Vogue published an interview with Gavin Newsom on February 1, heaping praise on the California Governor. They spoke about Young Man in a Hurry, Newsom’s memoir released earlier this year. He opened up about his childhood, politics, personal life, and more in the memoir and the interview.
The introduction in Vogue’s interview read:
“Let’s get this out of the way: He is embarrassingly handsome, his hair seasoned with silver, at ease with his own eminence as he delivers his final State of the State address… It must drive Trump nuts. Newsom: lithe, ardent, energetic, a glimmer of optimism in his eye; Kennedy-esque.”
In an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, released on Wednesday, Megyn Kelly read this out to JD Vance. She asked him if he expected a similar introduction if he gave an interview with Vogue. The US Vice President answered:
“Uh, that is, like, something out of providence. Yes. That’s what Pravda would have written about Stalin. That is great.”
Gavin Newsom is widely expected to be the next Democratic candidate to compete in the US Presidential elections in 2028. Megyn Kelly asked Vance if there could be a potential “square off” between him and Newsom, the VP answered:
“Well, we’ll see. I mean, look, I’ll give you the answer I’ve given to other people, Megyn, which is, it’s so far in the future. Yeah, but it’s the truth, and all I can tell you is the truth, is, look, I think that if we take care of business, the politics in 2028, we’ll figure this itself out. And if we don’t take care of business, there is no amount of salesmanship that is going to change that.”
JD Vance added that if they continue to work well, the Americans would choose not to go back to “crazy woke Democrats” and “reinvest in America” instead.
When JD Vance shared his thoughts on the Democratic race between Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris

Ahead of the 2028 US Presidential Elections, Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris are widely expected to compete for the Democratic candidacy. Neither has publicly confirmed it, but they have reportedly started making moves in private.
In an interview with Fox News last month, JD Vance was asked who he thought would win between Harris and Newsom. He answered:
“The dumbest candidate will probably win, that’s my guess, with the Democratic Party. I mean, look, the Democrats have a couple of big issues, and one is that they lean so far into wokeism that they can’t see the obviousness of the fact, which is that Kamala Harris is not qualified to be President of the United States. That’s why she got the vice presidential nomination. That’s why she got the presidential nomination.”
JD Vance then labeled Gavin Newsom “unbelievably corrupt and incompetent”. He added that Harris and Newsom being the frontrunners that the Democratic party is “deeply deranged”.
